Ana Whelan

(Pelvic)

Ana Whelan received her Bachelor of Physical and Health Education degree from Queen’s University in 1994 and her Bachelor of Education Degree from Ottawa University in 1995. After teaching for the Toronto District School Board for 3 years, she decided to pursue her passion in Physiotherapy. In 2000, she graduated from McMaster University’s Physiotherapy program. Over the past 19 years, Ana has taken her advanced manual orthopaedic courses levels 1 to 3 and enjoys a hands-on, manual therapy approach with her patients. She has taken many courses over the years including acupuncture, manual lymph drainage, prevention of running injuries, osteoporosis treatment and prevention, and recently her pelvic health courses. Currently, Ana is a teaching lab assistant for Pelvic Health Solutions, a teaching company for physiotherapists in some of the specialized courses listed in Pelvic Health Solutions.

Amanda Mallette

(Pelvic, Paediatrics) English, French
Amanda Mallette, MScPT has a strong belief in empowering her clients to reach their optimal health.
Amanda graduated with a Masters of Science degree in Physiotherapy from the University of Toronto in 2007. She also holds an Honours Bachelor of Science degree with a specialization in exercise physiology.
Since 2007 Amanda has completed many post graduate courses and workshops, advancing her knowledge in orthopaedics, manual therapy techniques, oncology, and her passion – pelvic health physiotherapy and pregnancy and post partum care.

Lavanya Amirthalingam

(Pelvic, Orthopaedics)

Lavanya Amirthalingam completed her Masters of Science in Physical Therapy in 2020 at the University of Western Ontario and her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology Co-op at the University of Waterloo in 2018. Lavanya is fascinated by the resiliency of the human body and is dedicated to approaching care through a holistic lens. She has a passion for pelvic health and is committed to providing her patients with the right tools to help regain control of their body and improve their quality of life.

Lavanya utilizes education, individualized exercise programs and manual therapy techniques including cupping, joint mobilizations, myofascial release and kinesio-taping to help restore optimal function and prevent re-injury. She has taken the manual orthopedic course level 1 as well as the level 1 & 2 pelvic health courses.

Outside of work, Lavanya loves to travel as she enjoys experiencing the beauty of different cultures and food, spending time with her friends and family, working out and trying new recipes.

Kowndiya Amirthalingam

(Pelvic, Orthopaedics)
Kowndiya Amirthalingam received her Master of Physical Therapy at Western University in 2020 and prior to that obtained her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology Co-op at Waterloo University in 2018. She is passionate about working one on one with her patients to provide them with the knowledge, education and tools necessary to maximize their function and reach their health and lifestyle goals. She hopes to motivate her patients to stay active and help them take control of their own health. Her treatment techniques involve patient education, manual therapy, soft tissue release and exercise prescription. Kowndiya has a special interest in pelvic floor and women’s health. She has completed her pelvic health courses (Level 1 and Level 2). Outside the clinic, Kowndiya enjoys travelling, capturing moments with loved ones and creating physiotherapy-related content for social media.

Mrunmayi (Manu) Sahasrabudhe

(Pelvic, Orthopaedics) English, Hindi and Marathi

Manu is a Registered Physiotherapist with a Masters in Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation from the University of Pittsburgh. She has been working as a physiotherapist since 2009 in various practice settings including outpatient clinics, orthopedics, neurology and pediatrics.
Manu’s philosophy is to empower her patients with effective ways of prevention through patient education while treating their injuries with advanced Manual Therapy Techniques. She believes in a client-centered approach in rehabilitation by formulating tailor-made programs to help patients achieve their maximum potential.
Manu has constantly engaged herself in continuing education and evidence-based practice by attending various courses. She has continued to pursue her passion for learning and has recently attended Level 1, 2 and 3 as well as Pregnancy and post- partum care in pelvic health courses by Pelvic Health Solutions. She uses the biopsychosocial aspect of rehabilitation and creates positive client experiences that align with their unique lifestyle.
Outside of the clinic, Manu enjoys running, baking and spending time with her family. She likes to maintain a healthy, active lifestyle and is fluent in English, Hindi and Marathi.

Ramya Murugan

(Pelvic, Orthopaedics)

Ramya Murugan, a seasoned Registered Physiotherapist since 2009, possesses a strong educational background, holding both a Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy and a Master’s degree with a specialized focus on Neurology. Specializing in sports and musculoskeletal rehabilitation, Ramya is proficient in diverse manual therapy techniques, exercise prescription, and specialized training for conditions such as musculoskeletal injuries, sports injuries, motor vehicle accidents, workplace injuries, neurological rehabilitation, and pelvic floor conditions. Her commitment to excellence is evident through her advanced certification in Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation, showcasing her dedication to staying at the forefront of her field. Known for her compassionate and goal-oriented approach, Ramya is devoted to improving the quality of life for her patients by providing personalized and effective physiotherapy treatments. Recognized as a valuable asset to the healthcare community, she actively contributes her extensive knowledge and expertise, staying current with the latest developments in physiotherapy. Ramya’s 14 years of practice reflect her unwavering commitment to excellence and her significant positive impact on the lives of those she serves.

Jeff Whelan

(Orthopaedics)

I have been involved in physical fitness and strength training from an early age and gravitated towards studying Physiotherapy at Queen’s University.

I have completed post graduate training in Manual Therapy in the Orthopedic Syllabus of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association and was blessed to participate in many training and educational opportunities from some of the best minds in our profession.

I have been involved in resistance training for 40 years with a long history of designing and implementing goal directed exercise plans.

I have competed in Paddling events in Dragon Boat and Outrigger Canoe and still enjoy canoe paddling today.

I am pleased to serve the physical health needs of the good people of the Durham region since 1994 and can be found currently practicing outpatient physiotherapy at Durham Pelvic Health in Whitby, Ontario.

As a trained chemist, Joanna has a passion for improving the lives of people as well as an interest in the medical industry. She has five years of medical administration experience, and also teaches science seminars in schools across the GTA. Joanna enjoys curling in the winter and travelling with her two daughters and husband in the summer. She is very excited to be part of the team.

Rebekah McGilvray

Patient Experience Manager

Rebekah McGilvray graduated with distinction from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1996.  After building her career in marketing/sales for 10 years, in 2006 she made a life changing decision to stay at home and raise her twin boys; a decision she has never regretted and one that has taught her more than she ever thought possible!

Now, after navigating her own difficult health journey for several years, she is passionate about encouraging people to thrive in life by healing both their body and mind.  She is energized by authentically connecting with others and offering her support and resources to help them heal.

In her downtime Rebekah enjoys hiking, reading, camping and exploring the next adventure with her boys and loving husband of 23 years.

Valerie has previously held several IT related positions in the banking, automotive and insurance industries. Her professionalism, and demeanor are a perfect match for the team at Durham Pelvic Health Physiotherapy. On the weekends you will find Valerie in the great outdoors enjoying nature with her dog Tobey in tow. Valerie currently lives in Toronto with her two children and husband.

Patient Experience Coordinator

Shmailah is a student pursuing her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. Her goal is to get a Masters and PhD and become a clinical psychologist in the future. She has previous experience in healthcare administrative positions. In her free time she enjoys reading, writing, hiking, and spending time with her friends and family.

Logan Webb

(Patient Experience Coordinator)

Logan is a third year student at Ontario Tech University studying kinesiology. She has previous experience in reception positions and is hoping to become a prosthetist in the future. She is a part of the student athletic therapy team and supports the varsity women’s hockey team. She is also on the varsity rowing team and competes in races over the summer and fall months.
